Core Classes

Core Classes are a “next step, next level” training designed to help disciples discover how the Bible, the Gospel, theology, and real-world life intersect. These classes are key to Living Hope’s commitment to “equip the saints for the work of ministry…to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity…in every way into Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12-15, CSB)

Core Classes:

  • are formed by registration in advance
    • Registration is available on-line and at Next Connect in our lobby most Sundays.
  • are short-term.
    • Most Core Classes are 4-8 weeks, and occur on Sunday mornings.
  • are generationally mixed.
    • It’s exciting to see younger and older disciples growing together
  • are built on a dynamic teaching environment
    • This includes group discussion, practical exercises, and focused teaching times.
  • require different levels of preparation in advance
  • may have a small fee for materials.

For Core Classes, you will need to SIGN UP in advance, and come ready to grow!

Core Classes: Foundations

Core Classes: Foundations are crucial to treasuring Christ, knowing His Word, and faithfully walking with Him in life and on mission for a lifetime. Our goal is for every Living Hope disciple to participate in each of these trainings.

Abide: The Wonder of Life in Christ, with Christ, and for Christ is our gateway course to discipleship because it explores the main way the Bible describes the Christian life—that the same Christ who walked the earth, died, and rose again is now live in us. Across nine weeks of guided Bible study, small group discussion, and practical exercises, you’ll learn the principles and practices to help you experience the life-transforming reality that we are in Christ and Christ is in us.
God’s Big Story: From the Beginning to the End will show disciples how our life-long love of stories is key to understanding the best Story of all: God’s Story, told through the Bible. You’ll learn how to connect all the big pieces of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
Essential Bible Doctrines will help disciples understand and apply the key truths that shape our faith. We will overview the eight large categories of Biblical teaching or doctrine that form Living Hope’s Articles of Faith.
The Joy of Discovery in Bible Study will help disciples learn a simple, practical way to understand any Scripture and apply it to their lives. Disciples of all ages and growth stages will gain confidence in using God’s Spirit-given resources to accurately handle the Scriptures through this interactive training.
Neighbors to Nations: Living as Sent People will introduce disciples to many pictures of the sending heart of God in the  Bible. And since Jesus said, “As the Father sent Me, even so I am sending you” (Jn. 20:21), it will also help you find your place in Jesus’ mission to reach people across the world with God’s love.
Experience the earthly life & ministry of Jesus as told by all four Gospels
Discover how the life, death, resurrection, reign, and return of Jesus changes everything about everything
Biblical Finances will first build a foundational understanding of God’s perspective on financial resources. Then, disciples will be trained in how to practically and wisely manage the money God has given you—principles that are helpful no matter where you are in life—so you can experience the joy of generosity and financial freedom.
This two-week class introduces Living Hope’s vision, mission, values, and beliefs

Core Classes: Focus

Focus Core Classes equip disciples to engage specific issues, responsibilities, and relationships with the truth and wisdom of God’s Word.   These include

Provides practical, Biblical training to help parents of children birth to age 18 raise disciples of Jesus.
Re-Engage is central to Living Hope’s marriage ministry. This two-semester journey provides a safe place for spouses to invest in growing, refreshing or restoring their marriage —no matter how long they have been married.

Re-formation Seminars

Re-formation seminars train disciples to push back against our culture’s pressure to be formed by worldly perspectives and practices instead of the Gospel’s priority and power on issues like:

Scars in Our Stories: Meeting God in our Suffering addresses the one thing that every person deals with and that may affect our faith more than anything in life: pain. We’ll explore how different sources of pain land on the heart and how the truths of the Gospel help us respond by faith and receive the help of our kind heavenly Father.
Resolving Everyday Conflict: Peacemaking Like Jesus helps us recognize that though every relationship— at home, with friends, in the workplace—will experience conflict, the power of Christ’s Gospel is stronger.  We’ll learn practical, Biblical tools to help us move through conflict and pursue forgiveness, resolution and reconciliation.
Being on Time: Clarifying the Time of Your Life equips anyone who has ever automatically responded to the question “How’s it going?” with “Whew! We’re just so busy!!” to stop and ask “Why?” Disciples of Jesus are to live differently than everyone else —including with our time—so we’ll have fun exploring the Bible’s call to consider our calendar as a key expression of our Christian maturity.
